GPU rental identity verification: when and why we ask

Most orders need only an account and a funded balance. When we do ask for more, we tell you exactly what is needed and why.

GPU rental identity verification is the exception at OverGPU, not the rule: most orders need only an account and a funded balance. We may ask for more in a few specific cases, such as large orders, signs of fraud or a possible sanctions match. When we do, we tell you exactly what we need and why, and we keep the request proportionate.

Why we may ask at all

GPU capacity is valuable, and it is subject to export control and sanctions rules. Our acceptable use policy does not allow activities that breach those laws, or providing the service to sanctioned persons or destinations. Verification in specific cases is how we meet those obligations while keeping ordinary orders simple.

When we may ask

  • Large orders, such as several 8-GPU servers or rack-scale systems.
  • Signals of fraud or payment risk, including refund requests.
  • A possible match during sanctions screening.
  • When the law or a payment provider requires it.

These cases apply whichever coin you use to top up your balance. For a refund of unused paid credit, we may also ask you to confirm that the request comes from the account owner; see refunds.

What we may ask for

  • Company details and registration.
  • The identity of the person placing the order.
  • Proof of address.
  • A short description of the intended use.

The description of intended use can be short, a sentence or two such as "fine-tuning and serving open-weight language models for our internal tools". We tell you exactly which of these we need and why, in your dashboard: on your order, or in a ticket if you already have an active server. If you are planning a large order, you can include your company details and a short description of the intended use in the order notes on the deployment page. That can save a round of questions.

How verification affects delivery

We review promptly and tell you the outcome as soon as the review is complete. On single-GPU and 8-GPU servers, the usual commitment applies: your server is delivered in under 10 minutes after payment. For rack-scale systems, nothing is charged while we review, because you pay only after you accept our written confirmation. See delivery and provisioning for the full order flow. If verification is required and not completed, we may decline the order.

What happens to your information

Verification information is used only for this purpose, protected, and kept no longer than the law requires, as described in our privacy policy. Depending on where you live, you also have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data. The full rules for verification are in our verification policy.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to verify my identity to rent a GPU server?

Usually not. Most orders need only an account and a funded balance. We ask for more only for large orders, fraud or payment risk (including refund requests), a possible sanctions match, or when the law or a payment provider requires it.

Will verification delay my server?

We review promptly and tell you the outcome as soon as the review is complete. Single-GPU and 8-GPU servers are delivered in under 10 minutes after payment.

What do you do with my verification documents?

We use them only for verification, protect them, and keep them no longer than the law requires, as described in our privacy policy.
