Runpod alternatives in 2026: 6 GPU clouds compared
Choose OverGPU if…
- Your GPUs run most of the month and you want one flat, predictable bill.
- You want a full server or VM with root access, not a managed container.
- You want the same GPU and local NVMe all month, kept for you between jobs.
- You want delivery in under 10 minutes after payment and a 99.9% SLA with credits on every plan.
Choose Runpod if…
You run short or bursty jobs and want per-second billing with no commitment.- You want serverless inference workers that scale to zero between requests.
- You want to start and stop GPUs from code through an API, CLI or SDK.

6 GPU clouds compared on billing, tenancy and payment, OverGPU included. The detailed OverGPU vs Runpod comparison follows.
| Provider | Billing model | Hardware and tenancy | Crypto payment | Best fit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| OverGPU (our service) | One flat monthly price per server; cancel before any renewal | Yes: BTC, ETH, XMR, USDT on TRON, SOL | Workloads that run most of the month | |
| Vast.ai | Marketplace of independent hosts; reliability depends on the host | Through BitPay or Crypto.com, per its docs | Flexible jobs where host variance is acceptable | |
| Lambda (Lambda Labs) | Cloud instances; reserved capacity through sales | Not offered, per its public pages | ||
| CoreWeave | — | Large reserved deployments run on Kubernetes | ||
| AWS | EC2 GPU instances on demand, Savings Plans or Capacity Blocks; egress billed separately | P5 (H100, H200) and P6 (B200, B300) instances; service quotas apply | — | Teams already built on AWS services |
| Paperspace (DigitalOcean) | DigitalOcean GPU Droplets | — | Teams already on DigitalOcean |

Why teams look for a Runpod alternative
Usage billing is ideal while your needs are uncertain. Once a GPU runs most hours of the month, the meter mostly measures time you would pay for anyway, and the details start to matter. Runpod Pods draw on prepaid credits: you need at least an hour's worth to deploy, and if the balance runs out, running Pods are stopped and Pods without a network volume are terminated with their data. Volume disks and network volumes keep billing while a Pod is stopped, and stopping a Pod releases its GPU to other users, so the same GPU may not be free when you restart.
Runpod also shares two strengths with us: it charges no fees for data ingress or egress, and it accepts crypto. The differences lie elsewhere: in the billing model, in what you control on the machine, and in the commitments written into the contract.
OverGPU vs Runpod at a glance
| Criterion | OverGPU | Runpod |
|---|---|---|
| Billing model | Prepaid credits; Pods billed by the second for compute and storage | |
| Minimum commitment | One month; cancel any month with no fee | None on demand; savings plans of 3 or 6 months paid upfront |
| Hardware tenancy | ||
| GPU lineup focus | B300, B200, H200, H100, MI355X, RTX PRO 6000, L40S and RTX 5090; GB300 NVL72 on request | Broad range, from RTX 3090, 4090 and 5090 to L40S, A100, H100, H200, B200 and B300 |
| Data transfer and egress | No fees for data ingress or egress | |
| Payment methods | Cards through Stripe; crypto through integrated payment processors; invoicing (ACH, wire or card) for large transactions | |
| Support | 24/7 engineers; 99.9% monthly availability SLA with service credits | Discord community, support requests and email; priority support and a 99.99% uptime SLA on enterprise agreements |
| Best for | Bursty jobs, experiments and inference that scales up and down with traffic |

Pods, Serverless or a dedicated server
A Pod runs your workload in its own container, with exclusive use of its GPU while it runs. Runpod runs Docker for you, so you cannot start your own Docker daemon or use Docker Compose inside a Pod, and Pods accept TCP and HTTP connections but not UDP. Serverless goes further: workers are billed per second from start to stop, flex workers scale to zero between requests, and active workers stay on around the clock.
When Runpod is the better choice
- You run short or bursty jobs and want to pay by the second, with no commitment.
- You serve inference with spiky traffic and want serverless workers that scale to zero.
- You want to start and stop GPUs from code, with Runpod's REST API, CLI and Python SDK.
You want self-serve multi-node clusters, or a GPU model outside our catalog, such as the RTX 4090.
What OverGPU includes, and what it does not
Moving a workload from Runpod
- Size the GPU with the VRAM calculator
and check the GPU cost calculator.break-even with the - Deploy the server: choose the configuration and pay the first month from your balance; the server is delivered in under 10 minutes after payment.
- Pull the same container images: Docker and the NVIDIA Container Toolkit are already installed, as our Docker guide shows.
- Copy models and datasets to local NVMe, run both setups in parallel for a few days, then switch traffic. We do not back up local storage, so keep copies of anything you cannot recreate.
Frequently asked questions
Is OverGPU a good Runpod alternative for always-on inference?
Yes, if your model serves traffic most hours of the month. You pay one flat monthly price per server for whole dedicated GPUs, with bandwidth included and a 99.9% availability SLA with service credits.
Does OverGPU bill per second like Runpod?
Can I run my Runpod container images on OverGPU?
Yes. Our Ubuntu images come with NVIDIA drivers, CUDA, Docker and the NVIDIA Container Toolkit preinstalled, and with root access you can also use Docker Compose or system services.
Are OverGPU GPUs shared with other customers?
Can I pay with crypto?
Dedicated GPUs, billed monthly
Whole GPUs from $449/mo, root access, bandwidth included. Pay with crypto.
