## How to choose between GPU clouds

Most **GPU cloud alternatives** differ less in the GPUs they list than in how they bill, what hardware you actually get and what it takes to start. Five questions separate them quickly:

1. **How many hours a month will the GPU run?** Per-second and hourly billing suit short or irregular jobs; a flat monthly price suits work that runs most of the month. The [GPU cost calculator](https://overgpu.com/tools/gpu-cost-calculator) finds the break-even for your usage.
2. **Do you need the same machine every day?** Marketplaces and interruptible capacity trade predictability for flexibility. Dedicated servers keep the same hardware, IP address and local data for as long as you rent them.
3. **Is the GPU whole or shared?** Some offers slice a GPU with vGPU or MIG. Check that the memory and compute you size for are all yours.
4. **What does data transfer cost?** Egress fees can be a large share of the bill for inference and data pipelines. Check what is included and what is billed per GB.
5. **How do you start and pay?** Some clouds need sales approval, quotas or a card; others are self-serve. If you want to pay in crypto, check which providers accept it and how.

## When OverGPU is the right fit, and when it is not

OverGPU rents dedicated whole GPUs at one flat monthly price, with bandwidth, IPv4 and 24/7 engineer support included, paid from a balance you top up in crypto. It fits inference endpoints, multi-week training and fine-tuning, and shared team machines that run most of the month.

It is not the right fit for a few hours of work a week, for serverless autoscaling, for interruptible spot capacity or for a managed Kubernetes platform: we do not offer those. If your provider bills per second and your GPUs sit idle most of the month, staying there is likely cheaper. Each comparison page above says when the other provider is the better choice.

## Moving a workload to a dedicated server

Moving is usually quick: the servers run Ubuntu with NVIDIA drivers, CUDA, Docker and the NVIDIA Container Toolkit, or ROCm on AMD, so the same containers start unchanged. Copy datasets and checkpoints over SSH or rsync, point your endpoint at the new IP and keep the old provider until the first week runs clean. The [GPU server quickstart](https://overgpu.com/docs/quickstart) covers the first login, and our engineers help with data migration after delivery.

## GPU cloud alternatives FAQ

### What is the best alternative to an hourly GPU cloud?

It depends on your usage. If your GPUs run most of the month, a dedicated server at a flat monthly price is usually simpler and more predictable; if they run a few hours at a time, per-second or hourly billing usually costs less.

### Which GPU clouds accept crypto payments?

OverGPU accepts Bitcoin, Ethereum, Monero, USDT on TRON and Solana through a prepaid balance. Per their public pages in October 2026, Runpod accepts crypto through payment processors and Vast.ai through BitPay or Crypto.com, while Lambda does not offer crypto payments.

### Are the GPUs on OverGPU shared with other customers?

No. Every GPU is assigned whole to one customer, with no vGPU slicing, MIG partitions or time-sharing, and 8-GPU servers are bare metal.

### Can I move from another provider without changing my containers?

Usually yes. Our images ship with NVIDIA drivers, CUDA, Docker and the NVIDIA Container Toolkit, so standard CUDA containers run as they do elsewhere. On AMD servers, use ROCm builds of your frameworks.
